Fall Fun

Fall. Is it really fall already? No actually. It's already WINTER! The time is just flying! 2016 has been quite the whirlwind. I think for Mom and Dad especially - they haven't had much time to just stop and take a breath! Luckily, Mom strategically planned a little vacation to West Palm Beach right after the closing of the house. In fact, we all flew back to Florida together the morning after we closed the doors to 601. We didn't waste any time! Before heading down to Palm Beach we had a couple of days at home to relax, and we also got to go to Daytona Speedway and watch Bart race! It was so fun to finally get to have Mom and Dad at a race, especially Daytona. It's a great track for spectators. Bart was wonderfully in his element enjoying having family there, and Gracie fit right in as usual! Their rides around the pit area on the Grom have become somewhat of a "thing," and now whenever she sees the bike sitting at the shop she insists on going for a ride. I think we're in trouble already! ;)

We then headed down to the beautiful Marriott on Singer Island, just off of Palm Beach. I was just coming out of a 24 hour stomach bug and Dad caught his own version a day later. So the first day or so was a little rocky. But once we settled in it was nothing but fun by the pool, relaxing on the beach, cocktails, and crossword puzzles. Gracie couldn't get enough of the kids area in the pool and we were equally entertained just watching her! Once Bart joined us mid week things just got that much better. We were even able to have a little mini birthday celebration for Bart and Mom. What a week!

After returning to Deland, Mom and Dad flew back to California to begin figuring out the logistics of RV life and we settled back into our routine here with the usual work, family outings, and day to day activities. We also had a fun surprise with a week long visit from the Feners! They spent part of their winter in Florida and made visiting us their first stop. It was such a trip having them here in our element even though we hardly showed them a good time. We pretty much just hung out, drank beer, and talked. Just like old times! :-D We also got to spend Halloween night over at Lindsay and Paul's house since they have awesome trick or treating on their block. Gracie wasn't too into trick or treating so that didn't last long. But we kept ourselves plenty entertained thanks to Nick and his willingness to scare the children with his missing legs!

We also had another fun filled track weekend with Bart up at Jennings Raceway in Georgia. It's always fun seeing Gracie in Bart's element, getting dirty with the guys. For Bart it's his absolute happy place, which makes it so worth the 3.5 hour drive!

We wrapped up fall with another trip out to California for Thanksgiving. It felt so nice to have a bit of normal, holiday tradition with things being so crazy this year. Although RV living was a bit tight with 4 adults, a recovering surgical patient, and a toddler, we made it work! Another adventure. The Thanksgiving highlight for me was getting to see Gracie interact with all of her cousins and cousins once removed (right?). She doesn't get a whole lot of time with other kids so watching her run around with all the big kids made my heart happy. It's rare that the whole family (well, we were missing a few!) gets together these days so I cherish every time we're able to make it happen. Thanks to Colleen and Bill for hosting another wonderful Thanksgiving. Even with the bumps in the road, I'm so grateful we all had the time together!
